Snowflakes, snowmen, sledding and skating - it's the most exciting (and longest) time of the year!!  Click here to share your winter activities.

Snowflakes
Tune: Are You Sleeping
Snowflakes, snowflakes,
Snowflakes, snowflakes,
All around,
All around,
Whirling, twirling snowflakes,
Whirling, twirling snowflakes,
Hit the ground
Hit the ground.

This is a fun one to do with the little ones using scarves and pretending to be snowflakes.

Debussy's Children's Corner Suite has a piece called "Snowflakes are Dancing" - it's a beautiful piece that could easily be danced to with scarves or "homemade" snowflakes, ribbons, etc.  They have a CD that includes this Suite on Amazon.ca that includes Schumann's Kinderszenen, Tchaikovsy's Album for the Young, and Debussy's Children's Corner Suite.  All are recorded by pianist Idil Biret, and it is published by Naxos.  To look at this CD, click here.  I'm sure that it's available for order from our music stores in Winnipeg.

In the bleak midwinter, Frosty wind made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron, Water like a stone;

Snow had fallen, Snow on snow, Snow on snow,

In the bleak midwinter, Long ago.

- Christina G. Rossetti
